Wizard Of Odds Slot
Don’t expect Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion and other characters from famous movie named The Wizard of Oz. Wizard of Odds video slot, released by SkillOnNet in 2011, does not resemble that movie, although it uses the name as a pun. It displays well-drawn characters on 5 reels and offers up to 30 paylines and the main game jackpot of dizzying 100,000 coins. In order to achieve wins, players also have wild, scatter and bonus symbols at their disposal. That is not all; scatters bring free spins, while bonus symbols, once 10 of them are collected, start an interesting Bonus Game. From time to time, wizard will enter the screen and randomly multiply the win.

The overall atmosphere of Wizard of Odds video slot is half way between The Adams Family and Halloween inspired comic books. Sure, a wizard is there, but this is much more a scary looking than magician Abracadabra wonders slot, with usual things that we use to frighten little children. Therefore, apart from Wizard symbol, reels are covered with symbols like Candle, Cursed House, Full Moon, Halloween Pumpkin, Black Castle, Howl and Flying Witch. We know – you are trembling, too! And, if that is not enough to give you the creeps: imagine a close-up moving image every time one of those symbols is on a winning combination. Or a wall, opening up to show you the number of symbols that make a win. Ha, not so brave anymore?
Let’s get serious (at least for a while) – Wizard of Odds is a nice looking video slot. We enjoyed the graphics a little more than the gameplay. This is a usual 5 reel 3 row video slot with 30 paylines. One coin is wagered on each line and you can choose to play with less than 30, by clicking on a minus sign. A coin denomination in range of R0.10 to R50 enables everyone to play with maximum paylines. All wins are on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost. A jackpot symbol is Candle, awarding 100,000 coins if five of them show up on a payline, but that happens scarcely ever.
Wizard of Odds features free spins, but we expected something more magical. Three Scatter symbols appearing anywhere on the reels will trigger 5 free spins. The number of free spins is doubled with one more Scatter. Theoretically, 20 free spins are reachable, but for that honour you will need all 5 Scatters.
On the other hand, Bonus Game shows up more often than free spins. For each Bonus symbol in the main game 100 bonus points are added to Bonus Magic credit and once 1,000 points are achieved, Bonus Game starts. There are three magic hats with crystals (awards) beneath them and players need to choose one of them.
Wizard of Odds is, all in all, an interesting game with a few weak spots. It looks decent and, in spite of not being very original, presents some nice graphics to the players. Free spins are there, but that’s not something that will happen very often. Bonus Game is refreshing, but it’s hard to pass more than the first level. A jackpot worth 100,000 coins is tempting, but let’s be real, that is not something you can rely on. You see, for every good thing, there is a “but”. And one more – theoretical RTP of 95.5% is decent, but average.
