HISTORY OF SLOTS

The pre-cursor to the slots machine was developed in 1891 by Sittman and Pitt. The game had five drums with fifty playing cards (a deck, less the Jack of Hearts and ten of Spades). Players pulled a lever to start the drums spinning with the aim of the symbols stopping to create a winning poker hand. The slot machine was first developed in 1895 by Charles Fey who built a machine that had three reels with ten symbols on each reel. Players pulled a lever to start the reels spinning with the aim of identical symbols lining up when they came to a stop. New machines continued to be developed over the years with the first electromechanical machine being released in 1963. This machine did not require an assistant to operate it, included a hopper to collect winning coins and included lights and sounds for a more exciting experience. In 1970, the size of the hopper was increased which encouraged an increase in the size of payouts. The random number generator was developed around the same time by a computer programmer named Inge Telnaes. Video slots came to Las Vegas in 1975, but players did not trust them and they did not become popular until the 1980s. In 1994, with the first online casino, slots went online.

The rules for slots are simple. You must choose the size of your bet by choosing the denomination and number of coins you are playing with. Place your bet and start the reels spinning. Then, just sit back and wait for the reels to stop. If you hit a winning combination you will be paid out. In video slots games, you may activate bonus features such as free spins or a bonus game. These can be played to win extra.
