The response to the tournament countrywide was phenomenal, says Steve Hight, Director of Gaming at Tsogo Sun. “Thousands of roulette enthusiasts arrived at our casinos to buy-in for the chance to turn R100 into over R1 million – and as a direct result of the remarkable buy-ins by Tsogo Sun patrons, the total prize pool increased from an initial amount of R1.7 million to R2.82 million within eight weeks, taking the already high stakes of the second annual tournament to a record level.”

With every cent of the R100 buy-ins at the 14 casinos over the eight weeks of the tournament going into the ultimate prize pool, the total given away over the course of the tournament amounted to R3.27 million, of which R2.82 million was shared between the top seven finalists on 28 March. The balance was shared amongst the top finishers across each casino over the course of the tournament’s qualifying and semi-final rounds. The eventual seven finalists were drawn from around the country, with first and sixth place going to Montecasino patrons, second place to a Caledon Casino patron, third place to Queens Casino, fourth place to SUNCOAST, fifth place to Golden Horse Casino and seventh place to Emnotweni Casino.

Montecasino was a hub of excitement as the finalists fought for the top spot over 10 heats. The 40 finalists were quickly whittled down to the top few scorers, and after a few more nail-biting rounds Singh came out tops once again.

Says Glenn Joseph, General Manager of Montecasino, “We are honoured to have been selected to host the final of the Roulette Masters tournament for 2015. There was an electrifying atmosphere in the casino as the finalists took to the tables and it’s times like this that bring the essence of gaming to life. It’s all about fun, thrills and entertainment; and that is certainly what the players and spectators experienced at Montecasino for the grand finale.”
