South Africa’s Montecasino Rolls out Into the Woods Musical
Every so often, South Africans are lucky enough to see internationally-acclaimed productions on local stages. Now, Montecasino, South Africa’s favorite casino and entertainment resort, is proud to announce that the musical, Into the Woods, will come to its theater next month.
Into the Woods has been described by Broadway World as a “sleek and sexy beast”. The “intellectual and emotional satisfaction” it provides creates “an exhilarating theatrical experience that the audience has come to expect from the creator of some of the most iconic musical masterpieces, Stephen Sondheim. He is responsible for musicals such as Sweeney Todd and West Side Story.
South Africans can watch Into the Woods at Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theater at performances that will run several times a week from March 8th to April 14th, 2019. Tickets cost anything from R100 to R375 and can be bought at Computicket or Theatre Box Office.
What is Into the Woods about?
The story takes all our favorite storybook characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, and weaves them into a fantastical storyline that is both magical and moody. This is far from a musical for kids, however. While the characters are straight out of fairytales, they are also representatives of very real human emotions and have the audience face the ups and downs of this journey called life.
Since productions such as these appear “once in a blue moon”, according to Broadway World, South Africans are urged to book their tickets for the show today.
