Goldrush Gaming Group Launches New South African Online Sportsbook
Goldrush Gaming Group, the terrestrial South African gaming operator, has entered into the online sportsbook sphere, by launching a new platform this week. The sportsbetting brand is the result of a partnership signed between Goldrush Gaming and the international software provider, BetTech Gaming.
The new platform, which goes under the name GBets , takes Goldrush Gaming Group into the world of cyber gambling after having established itself as a leading land based South African gaming operator, especially in the field of casinos and bingo.
In 1997, Goldrush began operating its Viva Bingo brand, and operates seven such venues across the country. In 2008, the company expanded into the Limited Payout Machines market as a route operator.
It holds bingo gaming licenses in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, as well and Kwazula Natal and the Northwest Province. It is also awaiting news on a request for an Eastern Cape bingo license. Goldrush Gaming runs slots in Gauteng, Limpopo and the Northwest, with licenses pending in the Northern Cape and the Free State provinces.
GBets will offer players the chance to wager on pre-match and in-play markets on their desktops or their mobile devices. Markets covered include South African and European horse racing fixtures.
“The sports betting market in South Africa is already massive,” said the chief executive officer of Goldrush Group Mergan Naidoo. “It is developing by the day and we recognize that it has huge potential for future growth. By launching G-Bets we are able to boost our product offering into online sports betting and provide our players with the opportunity to interact with our brand at any time – and at their convenience.”
The co-founder and chief commercial officer of BetTech Gaming, Mark Bosman added that the agreement between the groups confirms BetTech’s strong position as a supplier to the African gaming market.
“With an established name and loyal customer base behind it, GBets is certain to be a popular destination with South African sports bettors,” added Bosman.
The online sportsbetting offering will operate under a license issued by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.
Goldrush Gaming is promoting GBets.co.za through a promotion blitz, with the campaign covering all types of media, including online and on popular TV stations and in popular newspapers.
