African Gambling Summit Scheduled for October
The Big Africa Summit, a gathering of the biggest names in the African gambling industry, is scheduled for October 6th to 8th in Johannesburg, it was announced this week. The summit, the second one to be held, will take place at the Emperors Palace Casino and is expected to attract multiple interest groups. These include gaming operators, regulators, gaming software providers and manufacturers, the CEOs and other top staff of gaming groups, investors, payment providers and many more.
One of the key issues to be discussed is online gambling in South Africa and the progress being made in this field. Attendees will be briefed about the development of online gambling regulations in Africa and the tools and platforms needed to see this industry take off on the continent. Presentations about related issues such as sports betting, online lotteries, remote gambling and online payment methods such as Bitcoin will also be held.
According to BigAfricaSummit.com, the official site of the summit and exhibition, attendees will also hear “fresh ideas from the real influencers – hear from a diverse, high level speaker line up and connect with leaders and captains of the industry for an unparalleled networking experience.”
All in all, the summit will include three days of workshops and meetings where all aspects of the African gaming industry will be covered. Attendees will be able to meet new and existing customers and partners and network with people in their field.
Essential workshops include: “Big Data and Marketing Analytics in Gaming: Turning Insight into Action” (facilitated by Rick Campbell for American Casino and Entertainment Properties) and “Step by Step Legal Guide to Establishing Successful Online Gaming Partnerships”.
Some of the leading experts who will speak at the summit including Geordi Hill-Lewis, Shadow Minister for South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry, Prof. Linda de Vries, the chairperson of the National Gambling Board, Michael Weare, Managing Director of Betting World, Tyrone Dobbin, the CEO of Sportingbet South Africa, Collen Weapod, a Board Member of the National Lotteries Board and Alpheus Matsebula, Compliance Product Manager for Bally Technologies.
